Windscribe

Circumvent Censorship

Unlock global content without worry: bypass government censorship, ensure privacy, and surf freely.

Extra Ways to Connect When Networks Get Hostile

When Windscribe can't connect normally, our Anti-censorship Settings give the app extra ways to reach Windscribe and adjust connection attempts on restrictive networks.

Protocol Tweaks

Applies protocol-level adjustments for WireGuard®, OpenVPN, and Stealth so basic VPN filtering is less likely to recognize or block the connection attempt. QUIC obfuscation uses AmneziaWG instead of standard WireGuard when enabled.

Server Routing

Uses alternate Windscribe service routes when normal routes to Windscribe are blocked. This can improve your chances of connecting, but may increase latency.

Large TLS

Adds extra TLS padding to Windscribe service requests to help when a restrictive network interferes with normal secure requests.

How to Adjust Your Anti-censorship Settings

Inside the Windscribe App, go to: Preferences > Connection > Anti-censorship Settings.

What Windscribe's Anti-censorship Settings Help With

Censorship is not one single wall. These tools help with the common places a restrictive network can interrupt the app before your VPN tunnel is established.
Networks that block VPN login, server lists, or normal connection attempts.
Restrictive Wi-Fi at school, work, hotels, airports, or public hotspots.
Countries or ISPs that interfere with common VPN protocols and secure app requests.

Use It Only When You Need It

Anti-censorship options can reduce speed or increase latency. Try a normal connection first, then use Auto/defaults when a network blocks Windscribe. No VPN can guarantee access on every restrictive network, but this gives you a better toolbox.
